Decorated in a rather surprising combination of safety vest with shiny red onion glasses, we follow the leader between the rattle crashes bottling plant during the walking tour of the Molson beer in the industrial park outside the Caledonia Estates. But unlike his entourage of journalists and staff, or even Gilles Duceppe netted hair. He somehow makes the outfit look good.
Swing time and occasionally haggard man took the reins of New Brunswick Progressive Conservative Party a few years ago that David Alward smiles, sure - we are wrong? - Trimmer much better than a few years ago.
Charles Alward barely audible above the din to a semi-interesting to hear the reaction Dagan New Brunswick - increased, but after half an hour on board a campaign bus to take him a little politics, but mostly about life, love and lunch.
Times and Transcript: As stated, Mr. Alward, we just do a personal profile, which today is very little in politics and the difficult questions, do not put the promise in the country.
David Alward: Good.
T & T: Yeah, Molson or Moosehead, which is a good beer?
DA: ha ... In fact I'm teetotal, but I am certainly glad these companies produce good beer in New Brunswickers, and to offer them employment. Yesterday I had the opportunity to visit Saint John Moosehead and Molson Moncton today, two large companies to produce products of great help to increase prosperity.
T & T: Um, I had to guess. After 26 days arduous journey, I must say you are looking for skilled, not to mention the happy and relaxed. What is your secret? Food? Exercise?
DA: Well, I take care of myself, what I eat, but one of the things we did throughout the county will go door to door with candidates and we should be very fast! Of course, this is a wonderful experience and I feel very good, what is happening. Since our teams are very focused, to keep power.
T & T Chairman diet, I asked the favorite recipes of New Brunswick seafood before, but what it contains all your favorite dish in New Brunswick?
DA: No bar, it's called ... Ah, what we call this issue, Rhonda? Beans, potatoes ... Carrots...
Rhonda Alward: Hodge Podge. . .
DA: Hodge Podge! New Brunswick, potatoes, beans, carrots, peas, wrapped in fresh from the yard and fresh cream, butter and fresh New Brunswick New Brunswick. Throw a big steak with Triple-A New Brunswick and you are my favorite.
T & T: I'm sure some of Tim Hortons is a blend of several weeks
DA: I have participated in a number of Tim Hortons probably right in the county, and in another place, where you can get out and meet new Brunswickers, but what we also do a better view of what we eat healthy.
T & T: Your wife Rhonda is a loyal soldier in any way the campaign was complete all the, ahem, (fighting) that goes with it. One must wonder what it is doing all of this? In other words, what you have promised?
DA: ha ha! This is incredible support for 24 years, not to mention the campaign!
Since I got involved in politics 11 years ago, the reality was that both were in trouble, a real team effort. He is a career, because he has committed, but it is already in full swing and a real trouper. Traditionally it is a group ride, but as the street, because I believe that we both believe, an important New Brunswickers to see us understand our relationship. Simply put, we New Brunswickers know that I want to be their prime minister, and Rhonda is a very important part of this.
T & T: Benign answer as far as I'm concerned, Mr. Alward. Rhonda, when you here, you should be two cents worth to your expectations.
DA: He wants to go to the salmon!
RA: Hmm. . I do not want to remember. . . I really want to, not because there was no time to think about such things, although I struggled a bit with the bus and riding. . .
T & T: So there is hope for the PC at all?
Rheumatoid arthritis: good. . . Some days, the time is good at the moment.
DA: It was Sunday Rhonda celebrated ahem, "a historic moment," I hit a milestone on the same thing a few months ago and I thought I'd never hear the end. So last Sunday we had the opportunity to be involved in some "Day Local Farm, but the rest of the day I spent with the family to celebrate the Um Rhonda,, a historic moment.
And you can be sure that he expects a large meeting with family and friends soon to help celebrate the special milestone.
T & T: Ronda. I do not think you are going to tell me what this day, do you?
Rheumatoid arthritis: silence.
DA: I hit 50 late last year to say any more!
T & T: Ha! This time is the way forward, and I see that you two have a good pair of boys the same age as my two daughters and David, none of them seem to convey a picture of this election or a problem. And the children say?
DA: My son is an adult. . . UNB is a student in the sciences, but today he is - door to door Woodstock team. Jonathan is very committed to after high school. He is always involved in leadership programs such as the Duke of Edinburgh awards, and enjoys politics.
Ben is now the turn is a plumber apprentice, but he's out at home as well.
In his spare time, he was also in the evening at the door to his father. Two sons and many of their friends are truly committed to Woodstock in the last election we had 24 young people, going door to door to me.
Policy, one of the things that I think is that it does not matter what age they are New Brunswickers. Young or old, I noticed that many of them turned out to feel disconnected from the political process now, they do not feel like he will make a difference.
But it should make a difference, as it is for all of us and how we build communities. I want to be able to foster young people and people of all ages, for that matter, to refer not to meddle, it really makes a difference in how we build communities.
T & T: Well, I tell the girls. . .
DA: So you know if they have any questions, I'm available to our candidates are available, but it is important to be involved, I am sure that they are involved in, inter alia. There are many interesting topics such as youth workers, third world development, the state of the environment, and so on, and really that's all "community building". Politics is just one example of how you can be involved in this process.
You know, up until 1998, when I decided to run, I'm not a political person, but I'd volunteer my community I decided to get involved and perhaps for other reasons, but on the same day. Yet many people are tired now I get it.
T & T: What is the general perception of the campaign itself? What are your feelings. . . Well, how New Brunswickers feel?
DA: I've said the past two years, how to pick up, how people feel weak. There are many reasons ... I think some decisions without the people involved, the decision to the effect of the broken promises, there are strong reasons why people always feel that way.
This trip was a wonderful experience for us a couple of fronts. Number one, we have received from people throughout the province, we have organized a team of excellent group of candidates. We work as a team. We started to prepare as early as February 2009, and in an organization, which is above all this, we have doubled the membership of the party. We are still candidates out there than people, they are difficult issues for them. They want to know what we are.
But you know something? They are right, out of reach now. This is a big difference and I think a very good campaign, right across the county.
T & T: Are you optimistic there then?
DA: Absolutely. But again, I will concentrate on the people. At the end of the day I respect people, New Brunswick, I respect that they would take a decision that is right for them in any way it goes. But what I hear people from time to time again that they do not want to vote for Shawn Graham, they do not believe that we can give the four years his agency intends to break its promises, his secret contracts.
At the same time they want to know that side of the Head of New Brunswickers pay the first amendment, which requires them to decisions that are important to them.
One thing I've always said it was easy and it's another promise. . . Well, what I call the New Brunswickers must rely on me, give me a chance to prove what I say, that approach, as we move forward.
T & T: It does not matter what the outcome at the end of this process, the first thing Rhonda do?
DA: Ha! I believe that is stored only for a few days. I was just joking earlier about salmon fishing, but in fact we have been closely Boiestown a nice little camp recently. We spent some time in the river, but mostly just played a small crib, some horse shoes, reading a book, I think, to be honest, this is the plan.
You can be sure that we do these things together later than the simple joy of a normal life is low.
And when you finally make your home, if possible. . . I really do not know how she finds time to do it, but Rhonda makes great pickles jams I am looking forward to it.
Those pleasures that we enjoy only the work of the farm work with animals. . . We did not have time to deal with some of our lives together. Time, because it is always very important to us.
T & T Committee. You've been gone for so long that I'm sure the cows to hate now.
DA: ha ha! Calves have been a pretty good summer with the boy.
He rose in Quebec earlier this summer, and showed them - our race is Hereford - a small show, and he received the National Hereford Tower PM! He won the overall points competition to become "ambassadors for showing" that the cow can not be sure that they are all in need of attention from him. But no, not me, that's for sure.
T & T: You are a little different situation, because you're a farmer, how the family has been here for generations. So I do not know if it's necessarily an option for you, but once you left the province of the young man to seek his fortune elsewhere, or was at least the temptation?
DA: I went to the county when I was in school, and student counseling. It was in the late 1970s and then at the University of New Brunswick at the level of advice are still what they call "an experimental direction, and that's not what I was looking for. Anyway, I went to school I followed the advice and the school really well, but I can tell you that when my studies was finished, I went home.
